Mandarin Varieties: Properties, Types & Calendar

At The Best, we select mandarins with high Brix, firm skin, and intense aromas—ensuring freshness, colour, and consistent sweetness every season.

Mandarin Properties

An aromatic citrus, rich in vitamin C, folate, and fibre. It offers juicy segments, great refreshment, and excellent retail acceptance thanks to its snack-friendly format and easy peeling.

Types of Mandarins

At The Best, we work with a staggered calendar across the main families:

  • Satsuma (Okitsu, Owari): Early, very juicy, thin easy-peel skin. Low acidity, gentle sweetness.
  • Clementines (Oronules, Clemenules/Nules): Sweet, aromatic, with a great sweet–acid balance. Excellent colour and shelf life.
  • Late hybrids (Nadorcott/Tang Gold, Tango, Orri): High Brix, intense colour, and strong post-harvest performance; firm pulp and pronounced flavour.
