Pomegranate Varieties: Properties, Types & Calendar

At The Best, we select high-quality pomegranates with juicy arils, intense colour, and balanced sweetness to ensure the best flavour and shelf life.

Pomegranate Properties

Pomegranate stands out for its high content of antioxidants (polyphenols), vitamin C, and fibre. Its arils add freshness, colour, and a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity—ideal for salads, toppings, and fresh juices.

Types of Pomegranates

At The Best, we work with benchmark varieties:

  • Mollar de Elche: Very sweet, soft seeds, and light-coloured rind. Excellent for fresh consumption.
  • Wonderful: Intense colour, firm arils, and balanced flavour. Great post-harvest performance.
  • Acco: Early variety with vibrant reddish tone and notable sweetness. Ideal for the start of the season.
